Come in and see the office. I will meet with you for about 15-20 minutes, answer any questions, get a better understanding of your concerns. This will provide you with an opportunity to learn about my services and better decide if I can meet your child's needs. I hope I am able to help. However, if not, I will likely be able to provide an appropriate referral.
A screening is essentially an informal observation of your child that helps determine if a more comprehensive evaluation is necessary. If an evaluation has recently been completed by another service provider, please bring a copy with you. I will conduct simple screening procedures to determine if a more in-depth evaluation and/or therapy services are necessary. There are no written reports provided with a screening. The fee is prorated for time spent with your child and speaking with you afterward. If a full evaluation is then scheduled, your screening fee will be deducted from the evaluation fee.
Evaluations provide an in depth assessment of a child’s expressive and receptive language skills and articulation (sound production). If needed, assessment of vocabulary, oral motor, pragmatic language skills, and stuttering may also be completed as part of the evaluation. If an evaluation has recently been completed by another service provider, please bring a copy with you.
Specific therapy goals are drawn from an evaluation. After discussing assessment outcomes, an individual therapy plan is collaboratively developed with parents. Parents will always know what their child is working on and progress towards stated goals. Therapy duration and frequency is based on the specific needs of each child.
