Hi, my name is Jesenia Hernandez. I earned a Master of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Northern Illinois Universiy in 2003 and a Bachelor of Arts in Communicative Disorders at SUNY New Paltz in 2001. I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology and am a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). I'm licensed to practice in the state of Connecticut and hold a Connecticut State License from the Department of Public Health.

I specialize in the assessment and treatment of monolingual and bilingual Spanish/English speakers as well as, language disorders, speech/articulation, and literacy concerns. I have an extensive background working with toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children.

For over 10 years, I have identified, evaluated, and treated children with a variety of neurologically and developmentally-based communication disorders. I have worked in various Public School Systems where I evaluated and treated students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade with Specific Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Speech and Language Disorders, Intellectual Disabilities, Hearing Impairments, and ADHD. I participated in Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings to create Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for special education students. Through individual and group therapy, I focused on teaching specific skills in order to support classroom learning. I worked closely with team members to effectively and efficiently meet students’ needs.

I came into this field out of a deep love and genuine call to help others. I am passionate about helping children learn and make connections that will shape who they will become. I respect and value the trust parents place on me as a professional. While I work hard to maintain my clinical skills sharp, I will never pretend to know more than I do. I promise to use every resource to ensure your child receives high-quality services.
